Yet asking learners to recall and apply everything they covered sometimes 45 minutes earlier can be a real challenge.<\/p>\n<p>This is where formative assessment truly comes into its own.<\/p>\n<p>What Is Formative Assessment?<\/p>\n<p>Formative assessment consists of assessment activities embedded directly into the learning journey, with no impact on the learner's final score.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike summative assessment, which formally measures learning outcomes at the end of a training course, formative assessment is designed to support learning throughout the process.<\/p>\n<p>In Summary:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The final assessment measures learning;<\/li>\n<li>Formative assessment supports the learning process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It allows learners to check their understanding, identify misconceptions, receive immediate feedback, and reinforce their knowledge before moving on.<\/p>\n<h3>When the Training Course Is Long<\/h3>\n<p>Some training courses need to be longer because of the complexity of the subject matter.
